How did you get started in the trade and when was it?
I followed in the footsteps of my great grandfather who started sweeping over 100 years ago
I am a 4th generation chimney sweep who has been officially sweeping for 25 years unofficial 36 years.
What do you like most about being a Chimney Sweep?
I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and getting to work in some of the most amazing places Scotland has to offer
What is your favourite part of the job?
I enjoy getting to travel the length and breadth of Scotland no day is ever that same
What do you think makes you a good, trustworthy Chimney Sweep?
Honesty and experience are the two most valuable assets to myself and word of mouth does the rest.
What would you like potential customers reading this to know about you?
You are getting a lot more than just your chimney swept when you use a qualified sweep.
All aspects of your appliance flue and chimney stack will get checked to make sure all complied with regulations and certified on completion.
What music or radio station do you listen to in your van?
I travel all over Scotland and as you will know reception isn’t the best I take what I can get
I will listen to everything and anything as I take in the views
Favourite book, Film, TV Series?
I will watch anything with action or adventure, not a big fan of TV though, fishing and the outdoors is much more my thing.
When you’re not working what else do you like doing?
Family time playing with my kids and teaching them what I didn’t know then.
Then, there is fishing addiction I have had as long as I can remember…
It’s the only thing that can completely remove me from the stress of daily life.
